Welcome to the future, Hutt Valley!

A Big Year for Electrification 🌟

2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the Electrify the Hutt community. We've moved well beyond the expo — this year we're out in your neighbourhoods, talking to businesses, helping low-income households, and making sure your local politicians know what's at stake. Explore everything we have on below, sign up to our newsletter, and come along to an event near you.

Power Up The Hutt — Public Meetings 📍

Our Power Up The Hutt series is bringing home electrification conversations right into your neighbourhood. Each evening event offers a friendly, practical introduction to making the switch — covering heat pumps, hot water, solar, EVs, and how to plan your journey in stages. Upcoming meetings:

Electrify for Business 🏢

Electrification isn't just a household question — it makes strong financial sense for businesses too. Our Electrify for Business series covers fleet electrification, reducing energy costs, building efficiency upgrades, and navigating the incentives available to Hutt Valley businesses. Join us to find out how your organisation can cut costs and emissions at the same time.

Meet Joulie — Your Personal Electrification Advisor 🤖

Not sure where to start? Joulie is our specialist electrification advisory AI, trained to answer your questions about making the switch in the New Zealand context. Whether you're asking about heat pump sizing, EV charging options, solar feasibility, or understanding your energy bill, Joulie can help you think it through.

Electrification for Renters 🏠

You don't need to own your home to benefit from electrification. There are practical steps renters can take right now — from portable heat pumps to induction cooktops — and we're working with landlords and policymakers to open up more options. Find out what's possible for you here.

Support for Lower-Income Households 💛

We believe electrification should be accessible to everyone, not just those who can afford the upfront costs. We're working with both Hutt City and Upper Hutt Councils to implement the Ratepayer Assistance Scheme (RAS) to help lower-income Hutt Valley households access the benefits of electrification. If you or someone you know is struggling with energy costs, find out what support may be available. (Link to RAS page when available)

Making Our Voice Heard — Advocacy & the 2026 Election 🗳️

With local and general elections coming up later this year, now is the time to make electrification a priority issue for candidates and decision-makers. We're engaging with councillors, MPs, and candidates to push for stronger policies on clean energy, efficient homes, and support for those who need it most.

Could There Be an Expo in Wellington? 🔌

We're exploring the possibility of bringing an electrification expo to Wellington later this year — bigger, bolder, and with even more to see and do. Watch this space, and sign up to our newsletter to be the first to know.

Already Electrified? Share Your Story ✨

Inspired by what your neighbours have done? Events like Watts Inside? Eastbourne & the Bays showed just how powerful peer-to-peer conversations can be. If you've made the switch and want to share your experience, get in touch — your story could help someone else take the next step.

Join Our Electrified Community ✨

The Expo was more than just an exhibition—it was a community event designed to empower you with knowledge. Even though it is over, you can speak directly with local suppliers, attend engaging workshops, and get all your questions answered in one place. Discover government grants and incentives available to help you make the switch, and hear from people just like you who have already embraced an electrified lifestyle.

If you would like to join our team to get involved with these exciting initaitives and to support our goal of making the Hutt an Electric Valley, then please get in send us a message using the contact form.

We will be organising more events in the coming months, so sign up for our newsletter to stay informed.
